Reuters welcomes NCTJ Awards for Excellence 2024 shortlisters for exclusive newsroom tour and insights session
Reuters, headline sponsor of the NCTJ Awards for Excellence, invited shortlisted entrants from the 2024 ceremony for a behind-the-scenes visit to its Canary Wharf newsroom on a historic day that saw the organisation’s editorial team respond to the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza and former US President Donald Trump’s address to the Israeli parliament.
Shortlisters were welcomed by Jo Webster, Reuters’ global managing editor for visuals, before taking part in a tour of the newsroom and an insight session exploring how content and technology come together through Reuters Connect. Members of the Reuters editorial and verification team then followed, giving shortlisters the opportunity ask questions and learn more about the organisation’s approach to journalism.

Shortlisters gained firsthand insight into how a world-leading organisation delivers accurate, unbiased news at pace, with the sessions offering practical perspectives on the evolving media landscape, how different departments come together to deliver fast, reliable content that meet the standards expected within the industry. Attendees were also given Reuters’ latest book, “40 Years of Photojournalism at Reuters,” which showcases the organisation’s history of coverage and provides insights into the evolution of visual storytelling over four decades.

Reuters has confirmed its continued support for the NCTJ Awards for Excellence as headline sponsor for 2025.
Sarah Rix, head of marketing and communications at the NCTJ, said: “The quality of entries to our 2024 awards was outstanding. We’re grateful to Reuters for welcoming our shortlisted entrants into their newsroom and for committing to headline sponsorship of the 2025 Awards for Excellence ceremony.”
