Students to share their opinions at annual meeting

Student journalists will have the chance to network and share their views at the fourth NCTJ Student Council meeting next month in London.

Student journalists will have the chance to network and share their views at the fourth NCTJ Student Council meeting next month in London.

Representatives from NCTJ-accredited courses will be attending the event at The Press Association on 11 February. Previous meetings have been highly successful at involving students in decision making and this year’s event is a further opportunity for them to communicate their ideas and feedback.

NCTJ chairman Kim Fletcher will chair a ‘Meet the editors’ panel featuring representatives from all media sectors. The panel will be made up of Brien Beharrell, editorial director of Newbury News Group, Andy Cairns, executive editor at Sky Sports News, Graham Dudman, managing editor at The Sun and Jonathan Grun, editor-in-chief at Press Association. Students will have the opportunity to question the panel about the skills and attributes needed to succeed in today’s industry.

Student Council members will also get the chance to talk to senior NCTJ staff about key issues and present their views and suggestions, before finishing the day with a tour of the newsroom.
