The NCTJ has renewed its close relationship with the media in Sri Lanka with a visit from Kumar Nadesan, chairman of the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI).

Kumar Nadesan, who is managing director of Express Newspapers, publisher of Sri Lanka’s oldest Tamil-language newspaper, met with the NCTJ’s chief executive, Joanne Butcher, to discuss progress with the development of a professional qualification for journalists in Sri Lanka.  The training scheme is being modelled on the NCTJ’s Diploma in Journalism and distance learning programme. Joanne Butcher visited Sri Lanka in January to help the SLPI make plans for its journalism training provision.
