NCTJ trainee wins young journalist of the year award

Former NCTJ student and trainee journalist Ben Leo is celebrating after being crowned young journalist of the year at the Regional Press Awards.

Former NCTJ student and trainee journalist Ben Leo is celebrating after being crowned young journalist of the year at the Regional Press Awards.

Ben is a reporter for The Argus in Brighton. He completed his NCTJ training at Brighton Journalists Works in 2012 and is currently studying for his National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ).

Ben was presented his award at a ceremony in the Lancaster Hotel, London on Friday, 16 May. The awards celebrate regional and local journalism in print and on digital platforms.

Congratulations also go to NCTJ board member and Northern Echo editor, Peter Barron, who won the Journalists’ Charity Award.
