NCTJ taking on new ambassadors to expand outreach and inspire future journalists

The NCTJ is expanding its ambassadors’ group and is looking for NCTJ-qualified journalists from all sectors and backgrounds to join the initiative.

This growing network champions quality, trust and diversity in journalism and plays a vital role in inspiring the next generation to consider a career in the industry.

Since its launch in July 2024, ambassadors have already attended more than 30 careers fairs and talks across the UK, connecting with aspiring journalists and promoting the value of NCTJ training. As the programme grows in 2025, the NCTJ is looking to reach even more people and communities.

New ambassadors will help further promote journalism across the country by supporting the NCTJ at events such as careers fairs, conferences and school visits. They may also write articles, give talks or make media appearances to highlight the value of NCTJ qualifications and the importance of trusted, professional journalism.

Sarah Rix, head of marketing and communications at the NCTJ, said: “Journalism is a rewarding career that makes a real difference in society, and we want people from all walks of life to feel inspired and empowered to pursue it.

“Our ambassadors play an important role in raising awareness of journalism as a career and highlighting how NCTJ training equips aspiring journalists with the practical skills employers need. Their work is central to our efforts to promote greater diversity in the media.

“We have been impressed by the impact of our current ambassadors and look forward to welcoming new representatives who will help us engage with even more communities across the UK.”
