Learn more about technology in journalism at anniversary conference

Technology and digital skills in journalism will be covered in a special session at the NCTJ’s Journalism Skills Conference at Belfast Metropolitan College on 30 November.

Technology and digital skills in journalism will be covered in a special session at the NCTJ’s Journalism Skills Conference at Belfast Metropolitan College on 30 November.

Taking part in the session are: Thomas Hawkins, iPad journalist at the Belfast Telegraph; Jonathan Heggarty, head of school of electrical, electronic and computing technologies, Belfast Metropolitan College; and Davy Sims, head of social media at Public Achievement and former new media editor at BBC Northern Ireland.

It will cover the challenges and opportunities provided by new technologies, how producing tablet newspapers differs from printed editions and the importance of incorporating digital skills into journalism. There will also be tips on how to teach these skills to journalism students.
