Six aspiring journalists have been awarded training bursaries by the Journalism Diversity Fund during its 10th anniversary year.

Six aspiring journalists have been awarded training bursaries by the Journalism Diversity Fund during its 10th anniversary year.
The following people were successful in securing bursaries to help them complete their journalism training

• Hannah Anstee (University of Central Lancashire)
• Clinton Forde (University of Sunderland)
• Gemma Louise Hodgson (St Mary’s University)
• Alex Howell (Brighton Journalist Works)
• Eve Langford (News Associates, Manchester)
• Dominic Thomas (News Associates, Manchester)

Bursaries are awarded to students from socially or ethnically diverse backgrounds to help them cover the cost of NCTJ-accredited course fees and associated living expenses.

This brings the total number of bursaries awarded during the current year to 14.

Interviews took place at Press Association in London on Thursday, 25 June with a panel consisting of: Dave Betts, managing editor, Sky News; Graham Dudman, News UK; Will Gore, deputy managing editor, Evening Standard; Dan Lee, freelance journalist; Alice Ryan, content editor, Cambridge Magazines; and Haroon Siddique, news reporter, The Guardian.

The interviewees were quizzed on their passion for journalism, financial need and diversity.

Bursaries are awarded four times a year. The third group of bursaries for the academic year September 2015 – August 2016 are now open for applications. The deadline is Wednesday, 8 July at 5pm.
