The National Council for the Training of Journalists is delighted to announce that Invest in Nottingham is supporting the charity’s fifth annual Journalism Skills Conference that will visit the city later in the year.

The National Council for the Training of Journalists is delighted to announce that Invest in Nottingham is supporting the charity’s fifth annual Journalism Skills Conference that will visit the city later in the year.

Invest in Nottingham is the Trade & Inward Investment Agency for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire its main function is to promote Nottingham globally as a top UK business location and to and to attract and assist new and indigenous companies to the area. 

Lorraine Baggs, trade & investment manager, Invest in Nottingham said: “We are delighted to be supporting this event, and the quality journalism stemming from Nottingham Trent University. Invest in Nottingham work closely with local, national and trade journalists and look forward to meeting new contacts to help promote Nottingham’s key strengths and future city growth plans.”

Taking place in Nottingham on 28 and 29 November, the conference will open at Nottingham Trent University with the main sessions at Nottingham Conference Centre and the awards reception and dinner at the Nottingham Contemporary, one of the largest modern art centres in the UK.

The conference will cover topical issues, including new technology, tools and media platforms, associated with developing professional journalists across all sectors.

NCTJ chief executive Joanne Butcher added: “We are delighted to be working with Invest in Nottingham. There is a great commitment to quality journalism training and education in the area, with Nottingham Trent University topping our postgraduate results tables two years in a row, and it is wonderful that the organisation is to support future talent.”

The Journalism Skills Conference brings together decision-makers in journalism’s education, training and industry sectors and is a must-attend annual event for those who are passionate about quality multimedia journalism. The conference will also be an occasion to network and celebrate the achievements of those involved in journalism education and training.
