An NCTJ graduate from the University of Kent has beaten off stiff competition to win the role of research assistant at the Society of Editors.

Lucy Ross Millar, who has just completed the NCTJ-accredited BA in Journalism and the News Industry at the Centre for Journalism, replaces Sharon Nall who worked for the organisation for two years.

Lucy thoroughly enjoyed studying for her NCTJ qualification and hopes to go on to have a successful career in broadcast journalism following her work with the Society of Editors.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined the Society of Editors so soon after graduating. It is a great opportunity to work right at the heart of the media industry and make excellent contacts for the future. I look forward to working with editors, journalists and politicians to campaign for media freedom and standards in journalism.”

Bob Satchwell, executive director of the Society of Editors said: “Lucy will bring a sharp fresh mind to bear on the many issues that we have to deal with. Our only problem will be keeping her from being snapped up too soon by one of our members!”
