The first annual report of the NCTJ’s quality assurance and standards committee has been published.

The committee was set up in 2007 to provide independent scrutiny of quality, parity and fairness across all NCTJ qualifications and services.

It meets annually to review the NCTJ’s performance in: transparency and standardisation; candidate and centre feedback; malpractice and maladministration; appeals; potential conflicts of interest; equal opportunities and special considerations; and compliance with Ofqual and the Welsh Government’s conditions of recognition.

The current committee is chaired by Sean Dooley, former editor-in-chief of Staffordshire Sentinel Newspapers, and includes representatives from different educational sectors, industry professionals, the principal examiner, and members of the NCTJ’s secretariat.

The full report for 2013-14 can be viewed here.
