The Certificate in Foundation Journalism was introduced in 2014 and provides an introduction to journalism. It may be used as a first step for those considering a career in journalism or by those wanting to develop their journalistic skills for community reporting.

The qualification is made up of 13 credits, including the four mandatory modules: gathering information; how to tell a news story; recording information; and legal and ethical considerations for journalists (seven credits). The remaining six credits can be made up of any of the optional modules.

Students can choose to complete the full qualification (and earn 50 UCAS points) or individual modules.

For more information, please see the distance learning section of the website.
