NCTJ-trained photographers are invited to submit photographs for display in a high-profile exhibition planned to take place at the Guardian to celebrate 30 years of outstanding press photography training.

The exhibition of 50 photographs taken by NCTJ-trained photographers working in the media will begin in early June 2011 in the atrium of the Guardian News and Media building in York Way, London.

An invitation launch event will be held for all exhibiting photographers, editors and senior journalists and the exhibition will continue for six weeks.

Paul Delmar, a member of the NCTJ photography board and head of press photography and photojournalism at Sheffield College, Norton Centre, said: “This unique opportunity will be a showcase of 30 years of training press photographers and photojournalists by Sheffield College and the NCTJ.

“The reputations of NCTJ training courses in photography and photojournalism have been built on quality and now photographers who have completed the courses have a chance to exhibit the talent for which they are known.”

NCTJ-trained photographers are invited to submit no more than two photographs for the exhibition. These photographs will then be viewed by the NCTJ photography board, which includes chairman Steve Phillips, picture editor, South Wales Evening Post, Paul Sanders, picture editor, The Times, and freelance photographer Rob Rathbone.

The photography board will choose the final 50 photographs for inclusion in the exhibition. All photographers whose work has been chosen to appear in the exhibition will be invited along to the opening event.

If you are an NCTJ-trained photographer and would like to exhibit photographs in the exhibition send no more than two pictures as an email attachment to glen.oldershaw@nctj.com

The pictures must be of high quality as they will be enlarged for display. The NCTJ must be granted permission to display the photographs in the exhibition by the holder of copyright, so please check before you send in your photographs.

In the email please put in your name, a brief description of the picture and a contact telephone number and confirm that the NCTJ has permission to display the photographs in exhibition.
