Broadcaster and journalist Charlie Webster to present NCTJ diploma awards at 2019 Student Council

Charlie Webster, an experienced broadcaster and journalist across both TV and radio, will present the NCTJ diploma awards at the 2019 Student Council meeting.

Charlie Webster, an experienced broadcaster and journalist across both TV and radio, will present the NCTJ diploma awards at the 2019 Student Council meeting.

The event will take place on Friday, 8 February at the BBC in MediaCity, Salford, and the awards will be presented to the top-performing students in the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism exams during the 2017-18 academic year. All winners will receive a certificate and a cheque for £250.

Charlie has worked globally for major TV networks such as Sky, ESPN and BBC, and has covered major events from Wimbledon and London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics to World Cups and World’s Strongest Man.

Charlie does extensive advocacy work and has recently spoken as part of the United Nations Global Dialogue, US Senate and the Commonwealth Heads of State summit with Bill Gates.

She is an advisor to the Ministry of Justice and an ambassador for Women’s Aid and Malaria No More.

The Student Council meeting provides a forum for students to tell us what they think about the NCTJ training scheme and to share information and ideas.

Award winners and NCTJ student representatives at the event will also hear from a panel of editors and senior journalists from BBC Radio 4, Reach plc, Lancashire Post and Blackpool Gazette, Guardian News and Media and ITV News.
