Bournemouth to host NCTJ Journalism Skills Conference

The NCTJ is to stage its sixth annual Journalism Skills Conference in Bournemouth on 27 and 28 November 2013

The NCTJ is to stage its sixth annual Journalism Skills Conference in Bournemouth on 27 and 28 November 2013.

The town is home to two of the NCTJ’s accredited-course providers: Bournemouth University and Up to Speed Media, as well as the Bournemouth Echo, the training ground of scores of reporters and photographers over the years.

The NCTJ’s Journalism Skills Conference brings together decision-makers in journalism’s education, training and industry sectors and is a must-attend annual event for those who are passionate about quality multimedia journalism. In previous years the conference has visited Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and Nottingham.

There is a great commitment to quality journalism training in the area with Bournemouth University’s BA honours in multimedia journalism being the first undergraduate course to be accredited by the NCTJ in 1995. Up to Speed Media, an independent provider, also offers an established fast-track journalism course and is one of only two centres in the UK to run an NCTJ-accredited photojournalism course.

The conference will provide an opportunity to debate the latest issues associated with developing professional journalists across all media sectors. The conference will also be an occasion to network and celebrate the achievements of those involved in journalism education and training.

For regularly updated information check the conference page on the NCTJ website.
