BBC director of news to present NCTJ awards to winners

Helen Boaden, the BBC’s director of news, will present NCTJ awards for excellence in journalism at the Society of Editors conference on Monday 16th November.

Helen Boaden, the BBC’s director of news, will present NCTJ awards for excellence in journalism at the Society of Editors conference on Monday 16th November.

Judges are now casting an expert eye over 115 award entries which include published work, photographs and video reports from students studying NCTJ accredited courses across the UK and trainee journalists working toward the NCE.

The judges will announce a shortlist on Friday 2nd October. From this shortlist a final judging panel will choose winners for the ten category awards, who will be invited to attend the Society of Editors conference.

Awards will be made to the top student and the top trainee in the following categories: news journalism; sports journalism; top scoop/exclusive; features of the year and images of the year.

Helen will also be presenting three other awards, NCTJ student journalist of the year, NCTJ photographer of the year and NCTJ reporter of the year.
