Georgi Mabee of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph also won a prize for the Best NCE Portfolio 2010 at the end of last year.

The judges commended Georgi for her “five very strong photos”, saying that they stood out and brought a smile to their faces. They were also pleased that a relative newcomer to the profession was so assured in her work.

Commenting on her win Georgi said: “It’s a real honour to win Best News Photographer at the EDF East of England Media Awards. I’m thrilled with the achievement and am pleased to represent my newspaper at these distinguished regional awards.”
