PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Video Journalist in the Igbo Service team, you will initiate, gather and produce material for news, current affairs and general programming. You will routinely self-shoot and edit complete packages for use across multiple platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Script, record, edit and produce video content, mainly in spoken and written Igbo, with speed and utmost creativity.
• Offer story ideas and routinely self-film, edit news and produce packages for use across multiple platforms.
• Possess digital journalism skills that appeal to Igbo audiences.
• Spot potential newsworthy stories for use on BBC Igbo platforms and other services within the BBC, recognising the distinct requirements of different types of content the service needs.

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Must possess first-class video journalism skills with the ability to source, gather and prepare audio and digital videos in Igbo for social media and multiple platforms.
• A good command of spoken and written Igbo
• Storytelling ability using graphics, audio and video for multiple platforms when needed.
• Must be a good team player able to deliver and keep up with newsroom deadlines.
• Ability to generate ideas, script, self-film and edit video routinely, which is the focus of the role
