
Trainee reporter – The Peterborough Telegraph (Peterborough)
Are you passionate about creating brilliant content?
We are looking for a trainee reporter to join our award-winning team at the Peterborough Telegraph.
You will be enthusiastic about local news and you will understand how to market your content on social media.
In return we will give you the chance to be part of a brilliant online and print team.
We will train you to NQJ standard and ensure you understand how our news team creates engaging content.
The successful candidate will have completed an NCTJ-accredited pre-entry course.
The role will be based in the Peterborough Telegraph newsroom two days a week. Additionally, you will need to be based in Peterborough while working from home to cover breaking news and stories on patch.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Peterborough Telegraph digital editor, you will:
- Help to provide an online breaking news service to our audience
- Identify content that matters to our readers
- Be out in the field reporting from live and breaking news events
- Work to drive web hits and print circulation
- Work to create engaging video content for online stories and social media
Required Skills
- A passion to report
- Strong social media
- Excellent video skills – both in front and behind the camera
- Persistence and desire to get to the heart of the story
- Willingness to work flexibly
- Strong interview and good people skills
