The Northern Echo is expanding its football coverage and we are looking for TWO Sunderland AFC writers.

Are you a top-class journalist with a passion for football and Sunderland AFC? Then the Great Daily of the North wants to hear from you.

The ideal candidates will have a breadth of knowledge and understanding of football and all things red and white.  You will know exactly what makes Black Cats fans tick and be able to capture their passion in your writing. You will be data and analytics-driven and have a vast understanding of growing digital audiences – including newsletters and subscriptions.

You will have experience in various styles from in-depth opinion and analysis to interviews and insight.

You will understand how to engage with fans and build trust and relationships through your expert content.

Ideally, you already have a big social media profile and be comfortable in front of a camera to deliver video, streaming and podcasts.

Most of all, you will have a passion and thirst to bring our readers the best possible SAFC content.

We are looking for experienced football writers but will consider outstanding trainees looking to cut their teeth on one of the country’s leading regional news brands. A driving licence is essential.
