PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £53,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

o    BBC South are looking for a talented senior journalist team manager to lead the social media team that produces content that travels from the South of England to the world. Spanning the dreaming spires of Oxford to the gleaming waters of the Solent, our patch plays host to some of the biggest news stories and we want someone who can help those stories reach their full potential.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact
o    Responsible for originating, producing and publishing stories for the regional social media accounts and the BBC website, which can also be used on other outlets.
o    The successful candidate will be the member of staff to sign off on a story or video before it goes live on one of the biggest news platforms in the world
o    Commission and select relevant materials ensuring they meet expectations of our audiences and adhere to the BBC’s editorial guidelines.
o    As required, to allocate work to a team and check progress; ensure the professional contribution of staff and the quality of output. Able to lead the team on a day to day basis, but also contribute ideas and support to the overall management of the output.
o    The role requires occasional weekend, late night and early morning working

 

Your Skills and Experience – Key Criteria
o    Extensive experience of writing and subbing content for online audiences and be able to publish directly
o    Clear understanding of social media and how to use it to reach a diverse audience
o    Able to plan ahead and organise stories from the team ready for publication in the medium term
o    Experience of managing staff

 

Desirable Criteria –
•    Familiar with FCPX and content publishing systems
•    Experience of using Meta Business Manager and SocialFlow
