Purpose of The Role
Join BBC Sport and help shape the future of sports journalism on social media. As a Social Media Video Journalist, you’ll be responsible for delivering impactful, vertical video storytelling that resonates with audiences across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and beyond. You’ll play a key role in amplifying our journalism with creativity, speed, and authenticity—while upholding BBC values.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Create compelling vertical video content from BBC Sport’s strongest journalism.
- Collaborate with reporters and correspondents to amplify their stories on social platforms.
- Work within a large video team to deliver daily output aligned with BBC editorial standards.
- Plan and manage content calendars to prioritise and schedule output.
- Edit video content using professional software under tight deadlines.
- Stay on top of social media trends and storytelling techniques to optimise content.
- Provide constructive feedback and insights to improve team output.
- Analyse performance metrics to inform future content strategies.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Proven experience in video editing and production.
- Strong understanding of social media storytelling techniques.
- Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
- Ability to interpret social media metrics and apply insights to content creation.
- Excellent editorial judgement and creativity.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a newsroom or similar editorial environment.
