Senior Reporter – Darlington
The Northern Echo, Newsquest’s flagship daily title, is looking for a top-class senior reporter with bundles of enthusiasm to join the Great Daily of the North and its associated titles.
For more than 150 years, The Northern Echo has been setting the agenda with hard-hitting investigations and campaigns, and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team to focus on our North Yorkshire patch.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage live blogs on breaking incidents and cover issues that matter to the community.
- Create engaging stories for The Northern Echo and the Darlington & Stockton Times.
- Identify and react swiftly to news trends, ensuring timely and relevant coverage.
- Conduct in-depth investigations and develop campaigns that align with our distinguished history.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience in a digital newsroom, with a strong understanding of modern journalism pressures.
- Ability to spot and react to news trends quickly.
- Comfortable with live blogging and investigative journalism.
- Outstanding trainees with NCTJ prelims (including shorthand) will be considered.
- A valid driving licence is essential.
