There are two vacancies available.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

The successful candidate will create and publish social media, digital content and video for global Korean audiences. Working with editors, you will contribute to delivering an effective social media strategy that grows reach and engagement. You will produce timely, high-quality content across platforms, identify opportunities to engage audiences, and use analytics to refine output and improve performance. Collaboration and strong editorial judgement are essential to support priorities and maintain BBC standards to meet audience needs.

BBC World Service is part of BBC News, delivering trusted journalism to a global audience of 456 million people weekly across TV, radio, digital and social platforms. BBC News Korean is one of 16 Asia region services, with teams in Seoul and London. The service produces digital and radio news and current affairs for Korean-speaking audiences, including programming tailored for North Korea, offering the opportunity to contribute to impactful, international journalism.

 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

 

  • Create and produce stories across BBC output, including scripting, filming, editing and presenting content for digital, social, radio and video platforms.
  • Produce and publish engaging social media, digital content and video for global Korean audiences.
  • Work with editors to support delivery of a social media strategy that grows reach and engagement.
  • Select and adapt content to meet audience needs and ensure compliance with BBC editorial guidelines.
  • Contribute to live and recorded output, including reporting, filming, editing and presenting where required.
  • Deliver high-quality journalism to tight deadlines, using analytics and insights to improve performance.
  • Support collaboration, diversity and best practice, ensuring output reflects audiences and meets BBC standards and policies.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

 

  • Fluent in written and spoken Korean and English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both.
  • Candidates must have professional journalism experience producing content in Korean.
  • Strong understanding of North Korea, including language nuances, to support radio programming.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, producing clear, engaging content in Korean for digital and radio platforms.
  • Proven experience in digital news production, with a strong interest in social media, interactivity and audience engagement.
  • In-depth knowledge of Korean affairs and audience needs, with the ability to translate insights into compelling content.
  • Confident using data and analytics to inform editorial decisions, drive traffic and maximise impact.
  • Good understanding of digital video best practice and online communities, staying up to date with trends and platform developments.
