LOCATION: Glasgow, office based
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Upto £42,000 (EFT) – (pro rata 0.75 upto £31,5000) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC EXTEND

This role is advertised as part of our  BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As Senior Journalist on weekend radio programmes you will play a key role in delivering high quality content for our audience. You will shape the news agenda deciding on the stories we cover and how we cover them. Your experience, ideas and enthusiasm will be crucial in making our programmes the best they can be.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • You will produce and output live radio news programmes selecting editorial content and treatments
  • You will book guests and liaise with BBC reporters and correspondents
  • This is a senior role so you will need to understand the importance of impartiality; have extensive editorial experience; sound judgement and be assertive in decision making
  • As a member of the weekend production team, you’ll also produce The Saturday Show as and when required
  • As a Senior Journalist on weekend programmes you will be required to work on a Saturday and Sunday

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Detailed knowledge of the Scottish news and sports agenda
  • Experience in audio news production
  • Awareness and knowledge of media law
  • Experience of broadcasting technologies and live outputting
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news environment and leading a team
  • Track record in delivering original journalism
