PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: SGD $90,000 – $135,000 gross per annum, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

 

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

As a Senior Journalist based in Singapore, you’ll be a key member of a dynamic team reshaping how BBC News connects digital and linear platforms. You’ll lead the production and delivery of live rolling news for the BBC News channel, bringing editorial excellence, creativity, and agility to our global coverage. This role demands a multiskilled journalist with strong editorial judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom environment.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Identify compelling stories and transform them into engaging television content through scripting, video editing, graphics creation, guest booking, and presenter briefing.
  • Build running orders and manage live broadcasts from the production gallery, demonstrating strong editorial judgment under pressure.
  • Contribute to digital news output, using social media for newsgathering and tailoring video content for online audiences.
  • Occasionally take on on-air reporting opportunities, depending on editorial needs.
  • Bring substantial experience in broadcast or multimedia journalism, along with passion, motivation, and newsroom agility.

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

 

  • Excellent editorial judgment, writing, and production skills, built on significant experience in broadcast journalism.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and global news, with the ability to identify stories suited for compelling television.
  • Proven track record in managing live and breaking news across rolling broadcasts or live blogs, under tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in digital and television news production, including video editing, graphics creation, and live-streaming.
  • Flexible and motivated, with the ability to work varied shifts and a passion for delivering high-quality journalism.
