PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £49,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC EXTEND

This role is advertised as part of our  BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Digital Planner is key role in identifying the stories and treatments that will reach the opportunity audiences and help us grow our reach across the South of England. They will know how to identify stories that need special attention to reach the right audience and how to make sure the content resonates with the people we are trying to reach. This is not a role about filling a diary – it is about ensuring we are making the most of our journalism on digital platforms and beyond.

 

WHY JOIN THE TEAM
The South of England is a busy news patch full of ambitious journalists who want their work to make an impact. Reporting to the Planning AE, you’ll be working across a variety of multimedia platforms with a focus on digital platforms and social.

 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Identifying stories from a variety of sources that will resonate with opportunity audiences
  • Guiding reporters through how to make sure their journalism works online
  • Liaising with various parts of the BBC to help stories travel as far as possible
  • Suggesting how to further develop follow-ups to stories which have been performing well
  • Accessing and analysing data effectively to enhance impact and reach of stories

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You’ll have experience of writing and subbing complex stories into a form that is easy to understand on digital platforms
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Familiar with a range of social media platforms and the different behaviours and expectations of audiences on all of them.
  • Extensive experience of news journalism, ideally in a regional newsroom
  • Familiar with using newsroom data and analytics
