Reporter – The Telegraph and Argus

The Telegraph & Argus in Bradford is looking for an ambitious reporter to join our newsroom, covering one of the UK’s busiest and most diverse news patches.
Working across communities in Bradford, you will produce compelling journalism for our daily and weekly titles, as well as the T&A’s growing online audience. You will also take special responsibility for Keighley, the largest town in the Bradford district, providing content for the Keighley News.

This role combines strong traditional reporting with the use of bespoke AI tools, audience insight and content analytics to deliver relevant, impactful journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, source and develop strong local news stories across Bradford and Keighley
  • Report accurately and responsibly on breaking news and major incidents
  • Manage live blogs and rolling coverage during fast-moving stories
  • Use audience data and content analytics to shape story selection and presentation
  • Produce high-quality content for print, web and social platforms
  • Contribute to campaigns, investigations and enterprise journalism
  • Ensure all work meets legal, ethical and editorial standards, including accuracy, privacy and media law compliance
  • Work collaboratively with editors and colleagues in a fast-paced newsroom

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • NCTJ-qualified reporter, or an outstanding trainee with NCTJ prelims, including shorthand
  • Strong news sense and the ability to spot and develop stories quickly
  • Excellent reporting, writing and interviewing skills
  • Confidence working across digital platforms and live news environments
  • Interest in using technology and data to enhance journalism and audience engagement
  • Sound understanding of media law, regulation and ethical reporting
  • Full UK driving licence
