Production Journalist

Newsquest Scotland is looking for a hard-working Production Journalist with an eye for detail to join our Production Hub team – working across a range of Scotland’s most respected local newspapers, including the Glasgow Times, Greenock Telegraph and Dunfermline Press. Accuracy and diligence will be key.

This role will involve sub-editing, proofreading and page design using Adobe InDesign, with training available. Working with award-winning editors, our new production journalist will ensure our titles are complete to daily and weekly print deadlines and that the content meets the high standard expected from our readership.

Responsibilities:

  • To work on the production of our local daily and weekly newspaper titles that we produce, ensuring they are of the highest quality.
  • Ensure the papers’ content is accurate and in tune with our audience.
  • To redesign pages in a way that will give our content the optimal showing.
  • Rewrite the copy to correct it for style and grammar.
  • To undertake training to enhance your skills and improve the quality of the print publications.
  • To meet daily and weekly deadlines for our titles.
  • To work weekends, evenings, public holidays and at any other time as necessary as part of a departmental rota or as required.
  • To follow our house style for news copy.
  • To be responsible for the print pages assigned to you.
