Print Assistant – Newsquest (Glasgow)

We are currently seeking Print Assistants to join our team in Glasgow and contribute to the success of our print publications.

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our print production team as Print Assistants. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the smooth operation of our printing presses and ensuring that print jobs are completed accurately and on time. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are eager to learn and develop new skills in the printing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lithographic printers with the setup and operation of printing presses.
  • Prepare printing materials, including paper stock, ink, and plates, for each print job.
  • Monitor the printing process to ensure that equipment is functioning properly and print quality meets company standards.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment, replacing worn parts, and replenishing supplies.
  • Handle printed materials with care and attention to prevent damage or defects during production.
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and resolve production issues.
  • Perform quality control checks on printed materials to verify accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities produced and materials used.
  • Assist with other duties as needed to support the overall operation of the print production department.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills related to print production.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support production schedules.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations is a plus.
