PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Radio Jersey may be small in stature but huge in ambition. Even if we say so ourselves, Jersey has got to be one of the best places to live and work. You’re never more than ten minutes from the sea and we have some of the best beaches in the British Isles. And now we’re looking for a Presenter to join our creative team.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

BBC Radio Jersey is looking for a new presenter for our Saturday Breakfast Show. You’ll have a connection with our audience, an easy manner behind the mic and a love for all the Channel Islands (as we share the show with BBC Radio Guernsey). You will be based in Jersey – but on occasions may broadcast from the other islands.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our presenter line-up in Jersey as the regular host of our Saturday Breakfast programme.

  • You’ll contribute engaging programme ideas, research guests and topics, and host the weekly show – which is shared with BBC Radio Guernsey 6-10am
  • You’ll deliver programme presentation duties, recording and editing multi-track audio and developing stories to be used across all platforms
  • You’ll also operate a variety of broadcast equipment including the on-air studios, our production desk, and our broadcast vehicles
  • You may have the opportunity to work elsewhere on weekdays too

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • A passion for making great radio – that‘s at the heart of our community
  • An understanding of our radio programmes, TV output and online presence – and an ability to present Saturday Breakfast (and other programmes)
  • A technical understanding of broadcast out put and a desire to learn to operate technical equipment
  • A willingness to work as an active member of a small team across all platforms – keen to meet people
  • An appreciation of the audience we aim to serve and an ability to connect with them from behind the mic

Applicants should provide a 3 minute air-check showcasing their presentation skills and offer 500 words on how they would develop the existing programme.
