News Reporter – Newsquest (Swindon)

We are looking for our next top news hound to join us here at one of the highest-performing local news teams in the company.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reporter to join the Swindon Advertiser, Newsquest’s news brand of the year, where the successful applicant can make their mark in regional journalism.

This role involves reporting on everything from breaking news to High Street shop openings, drug raids, local events, reviews, court stories as well as human interests tales. We cover it all, and no two days are the same.

We want an ambitious, digitally skilled, versatile journalist to unearth breaking news and features on a lively patch.

The right candidate will be passionate about digital storytelling, hard-working, full of ideas and have a desire to come up with innovative ways of presenting stories across various platforms. A big part of the job will also be immersing yourself in social media, developing relationships and understanding what matters to the community.

We want to tell the stories our audiences care about, championing the best of our local communities, telling powerful human-interest stories and covering everything from local politics to crime.  You will have a journalism degree and ideally hold NCTJ qualifications and ideally have 100wpm shorthand: you may be beginning your career in journalism or be a fully qualified senior reporter.
