CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time Contract
DEPARTMENT: BBC Radio Berkshire
LOCATION: Reading – Office based
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 – £33,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- You’ll work as part of a multi-skilled team, creating content for radio and digital.
- You’ll create content and output programmes including our afternoon show, which is shared between Radio Berkshire and Radio Oxford.
- You’ll deliver stories with talkability which surprise and engage listeners in creative ways.
- You’ll have a track record in understanding local audiences, and a flair for writing great scripts.
- You’ll work closely with the presenter/producers, helping to get the best out of them and contributors.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- You’ll have a proven track record in producing speech-based live radio output
- You’ll have experience in developing strong working relationships with presenters and other producers.
- You’ll have substantial experience of audio production and journalism with strong editorial judgement.
- You’ll have the great people skills needed to collaborate with colleagues across our local platforms and between operational bases in the region.
- You’ll also have a good knowledge of the BBC’s editorial guidelines, a thorough grasp of impartiality as it applies to our output, and good knowledge of broadcast law
