PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 – £37,050 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Produce and present BBC Radio Lancashire’s weekday morning bulletins and BBC Sounds bulletins.
  • Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
  • Keep colleagues across the BBC – including online, social media, TV and national radio – in the loop about any breaking stories.
  • Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Significant recent experience of reading live radio bulletins.
  • Sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience.
  • Strong writing skills to tell and sell our stories in the best way possible.
  • Strong Broadcast voice.
  • A commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the BBC.
  • Understands how a team works effectively.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Optimo trained for online writing.
  • Mojo trained.
  • Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
