Salary : £26,975 – £32,010 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Purpose

BBC Radio Oxford has a rare opportunity to join its team of talented journalists and producers. We’re looking for accomplished all-rounders in a role where, as one of the station’s audio journalists, you’ll have experience of setting up and producing great radio. You might also be skilled in news-reading or creating digital audio content for online platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Creativity and storytelling are essential core skills – and you’ll be able to demonstrate that you can tell stories from across Oxfordshire, in a dynamic way that will engage with our audience. You’ll have recognise how we can share those stories in a variety of ways, not just on the radio, but on digital platforms as well.

You will work as part of the wider BBC South news operation where we have recently established new workflows, so adaptability and teamwork will be essential, as are excellent communication skills. This job may involve shift and/or weekend working.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

In this role no two days will ever the same. One day, you might be setting up programme content, the next you could be studio producing a live show. You might find yourself reading bulletins on the radio and for our smart-speaker service. A creative approach is essential, and you’ll strive to make the station more relevant to diverse audiences and look for opportunities to increase the reach of our audio within the opportunity audience.

You will consistently achieve high journalistic standards and observe the BBC Editorial Guidelines.
