PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Include salary range including currency icon e.g. £27,300 – £37,300 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

As a bilingual Journalist at BBC Brasil, you’ll create original, high-impact journalism across text, video, and audio platforms in both Portuguese and English. You’ll deliver compelling stories with editorial integrity, helping inform and engage audiences in Brazil and globally. From breaking news to investigative features, your work will reflect BBC values of accuracy, impartiality, and creativity. You’ll collaborate across teams, lead special projects, and contribute to a dynamic, multilingual newsroom.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Originate, research, and produce engaging stories across text, video, and audio to the highest editorial standards.
  • Apply sound editorial judgment to deliver impartial, accurate journalism under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Lead special projects and investigations, contributing to the editorial direction of BBC Brasil.
  • Collaborate across BBC teams and platforms, tailoring content for diverse audiences and formats.
  • Occasionally present live or recorded content and support newsroom planning, sub-editing, and team development.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Full fluency in Brazilian Portuguese and strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proven track record in delivering original, high-impact journalism across formats, including investigative reporting.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to handle complex stories in areas like politics, economics, and the environment.
  • Experience scripting and producing video content for digital platforms, including long-form and multimedia storytelling.
  • Ability to perform live on video, sub-edit content, and apply BBC editorial standards with accuracy and professionalism.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Multimedia production experience, including filming and editing, is a strong plus.
