YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Use a range of digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards
• Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism
• To liaise closely with other team members and with other departments in the BBC, to ensure that output material is shared, duplication is avoided, and best practice is upheld
• Take a lead within a team setting or on delivering a specific piece of journalism or project as appropriate
• To tailor different news treatments for different audiences ensuring that the output reflects the audiences we serve
• To prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines, staffing and resources available
• Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Native proficiency in Ukrainian with high proficiency at writing and editing texts for our website and social media is essential
• High proficiency at mobile shooting and editing vertical and horizontal video and working with titles
• High proficiency in written and fluency in spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively is essential
• Strong editorial judgement, based on extensive Journalist/Reporter experience in Ukraine and the wider region
• Understanding younger audiences’ needs and producing content that attracts this specific group
• Understanding how social media works and the current trends of main social media platforms, popular in Ukraine
• High ability to find and verify sources of information and video
• High responsibility and resiliency
• Thorough understanding of the principles of BBC journalism
• Ability to cover developments in Ukraine in text and video, both for the Ukrainian and global audiences
• Ability to make sound editorial decisions, based on knowledge and understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience
• Experience in motion graphics would be a major advantage
• Readiness to work a flexible shift-based schedule, including weekends and holidays
