CONTRACT TYPE: Twelve month, Fixed-term Contract, Full-time.

DEPARTMENT: Internal Communications & Engagement, BBC Corporate Affairs

LOCATION: Can be based in Salford or London, with some hybrid working.  If Salford based, there will be some regular travel to London.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000-£55,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,441pa if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

As Internal Communications & Engagement Lead for BBC News, you’ll help shape a new era of international collaboration by supporting senior leaders across six global regions. You’ll drive strategic communications that connect colleagues worldwide to our mission, values and journalism – strengthening engagement and helping grow our global reach, reputation and revenue.

 YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

As IC&E Lead you will

  • Partner with Regional Directors to develop tailored communications strategies that align with BBC News IC&E.
  • Deliver campaigns, events and updates that connect international colleagues to our strategy and culture.
  • Champion cross-regional communication and ensure global voices are reflected in key messaging.
  • Support change programmes and strategic projects with clear, inclusive communications.
  • Measure impact and adapt approaches to suit diverse internal audiences.
  • Collaborate with other IC&E colleagues to amplify BBC-wide initiatives across regions.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and support internal news, announcements and engagement activity.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

  • Extensive internal communications experience in a large, complex, global organisation.
  • Proven ability to advise, influence and build trust with senior stakeholders and deliver strategic communications.
  • Experience of delivering change and transformation communication programmes.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple projects and time zones.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify complex messages for diverse audiences.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Background in journalism or media.
  • Experience working in international or cross-cultural environments.
  • Familiarity with channel strategy and measurement.
  • Crisis communications experience.
  • A collaborative mindset and fresh perspective.
