Executive Producer, EFL – Sky Sports (London)

An exciting opportunity to join Sky Sports Football in a senior role, leading on our EFL coverage from season 2024/25 when we will show over 1000 live games, including all Carabao Cup matches.

The Executive Producer, EFL has responsibility for overseeing the editorial and on-screen delivery of Sky’s EFL contractual rights. You will lead and develop a team of Producers, AP’s, presenters, reporters and commentators, as well as maintaining and developing key relationships across Sky’s business, the clubs and Governing Body.

You will be required to lead your team, providing clear direction and cultivating a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, inclusion and innovation.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Editorially lead and produce world class coverage of Sky’s live EFL football
  • Manage and develop a team of producers, AP’s, presenters, reporters and commentators.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with EFL clubs, the EFL and other organisations across football to deliver innovation, key messaging and good partnership.
  • Work with Director of Football (DoF) and other senior team members on department wide development plans for producers, AP’s, directors and wider strategy.
  • Regularly communicate with the DoF to ensure production, strategic and budgetary alignment.
  • Support DoF on overall team recruitment plans with focus on Diversity and Inclusion throughout the department.
  • Develop key working relationships with other Directors/Heads/Execs across Sport and the wider business, promoting the sharing of ideas and information, ensuring cross-functional collaboration, and promoting the sharing/pooling of resources/teams where appropriate.
  • Create a team with a high performing culture that encourages inclusion, collaboration and creativity and empowers people to succeed.
  • Regular feedback sessions with commentators and on-screen talent.
  • Regular feedback session to you team and direct reports.
  • Ensure that Sky Sports is a leader in EFL coverage across all platforms – linear, social, digital, audio and VOD.
  • Provide guidance on OFCOM regulations and legal issues within editorial content.

 

Leadership:

  • Leadership is key to the role, managing the team you will be responsible for:
  • Together with Director of Football you will contribute to and drive your department direction and strategy and communicate fully with your team.
  • Encourage diversity of skills, experience and culture and see it as a business opportunity.
  • Ensure all members of your team has clear objectives, regular 121’s, development plans and targets aligned to the Sky Sports vision and are held accountable for their delivery.

  • Communicate regularly with your team to ensure they have all the information and knowledge they need to do their jobs.
  • Maximise the engagement of your team by ensuring the People Survey scores are always cascaded, action plans created and delivered.
  • Continually strive to raise the bar by creating a culture of regular constructive two way feedback, building a fair and consistent performance and development culture across the department
  • Understand and identify who the top talent are and have clear succession plans.
  • Drive an environment where people are treated with integrity and respect, people feel their contribution is recognised and valued, and where flexibility inclusion & innovation is encouraged.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports and ensure that all team members are managed in accordance with company policies.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Creative individual who has experience of world class productions across sport, with a good knowledge of football and a passion for EFL.
  • Relationships are key: internal, rights holders, governing bodies, stakeholders.
  • A responsible manager with a good track record of managing and motivating large cross-functional teams and talent.
  • Strong communicator used to working with multi-disciplined rostered team working in fast paced, pressured production environments.
