Your role: As an Ecommerce Writer, you will be responsible for producing engaging commerce content within your assigned vertical. You will be a brilliant writer with lots of ideas and knowledge from your chosen specialism, with some digital newsroom experience and a fundamental understanding of SEO and affiliates.

You will write and commission content for your vertical within the Sun Shopping section, ensuring all copy follows our Ecommerce best practices while driving traffic and revenue. You will also contribute ideas to our strategic content plans throughout the year and take part in relevant training.

As an Ecommerce Writer, you will be brimming with interesting content ideas, as well as being willing to deliver high quality content to support the overall Ecommerce content strategy. You will also be able to support monetising content outside of the shopping section and collaborate with wider editorial teams when necessary.

 

Day to day you will:

  • Create trending content based on daily SEO trends and what is selling/converting readers from affiliate data reports
  • Manage and oversee the work of freelancers – check copy and ensure affiliate links are correctly applied
  • Work on content plans for evergreen themes relevant to your vertical using data insights and SEO, maintaining existing content and coming up with new ideas.
  • Help to create/commission/update reviews based on Reviews Editor’s insights and guidelines
  • Assist the Partnerships team with ad-hoc editorial tasks relevant to your vertical

 

What we are looking for from you: 

  • Excellent writer with an attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Thrives under pressure and great multi-tasker
  • Able to commission and edit freelancer copy to match The Sun UK’s style and tone of voice
  • A good knowledge of SEO and Discover trends
  • Knowledge of affiliates and ways to monetise content
  • Experience in digital publishing
  • Knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations
