PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
In this newly created role, you’ll join a three-person News Content team in Lagos, working alongside a Correspondent and Senior Producer. As Digital VJ Senior Producer, you’ll lead technical audio and visual production, with a strong focus on social media content across platforms. An experienced digital journalist, you’ll provide editorial leadership in the field and excel in shooting and editing. You’ll drive digital innovation, create engaging social content, and support television and radio production when required.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
•  Drive original digital storytelling by identifying under-reported stories, emerging trends, and unique angles that help BBC content stand out.
•  Shape stories visually from the outset, planning compelling narratives, characters, and sequences before and during filming.
•  Create clear, engaging visual stories through effective shot selection, sequencing, and pacing.
•  Apply an audience-first approach, considering how content will be consumed, shared, and engaged with across platforms.
•  Collaborate with the News Content team to deliver innovative, high-impact journalism that resonates with diverse audiences.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
•    Strong visual storytelling skills, with the ability to identify and create engaging, attention-grabbing video content.
•    Advanced narrative development and editing expertise, crafting stories that capture audiences quickly and maintain engagement.
•    Extensive experience shooting and editing news and current affairs content, with proficiency across vertical, square, and horizontal formats.
•    Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills, managing complex productions, contributors, locations, and tight deadlines.
•    Strong understanding of digital platforms, audience behaviour, and content performance, with experience in podcast development, production, and editing.
