Digital Journalist- Newsquest (Glasgow)

The Glasgow Times is looking for someone passionate about news and the city of Glasgow.

You will work full-time in the newsroom, working across titles including The Glasgow Times, Barrhead News, Renfrewshire Gazette, Clydebank Post and Dumbarton Reporter.

Key Responsibilities

This role is for someone who wants to get out and about to newsgather and deliver exclusive content for their brands.

At the Glasgow Times, you will write for print and online, and produce social content for all platforms.

You might be a new graduate or someone with a couple of years of experience from working for other titles.

You will be a talented wordsmith who is also comfortable using your multimedia skills to report on video.

A deep knowledge of the city will be important as will a strong desire to make your mark on the industry with your talent, passion and creativity.

You could be working across seven days with early starts and late finishes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A journalistic background or qualification.
  • A passion for multimedia and what it can add to the Scottish journalism landscape
  • Ability to shoot and edit video and audio
  • A solid social media presence with a keen sense of how to shape their profiles on new and existing platforms like FacebookTikTokYouTube and Twitter
  • A creative spark, bursting with energy to cover this great city in a fresh, exciting way that engages readers
  • Knowledge of SEO and how it can help shape the success of your work
  • The bravery to not go the clickbait route for a story when a quality alternative method exists
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the human qualities needed to build a strong contact book
