Commercial Writer – Ecommerce & Affiliates – The Sun (London)

Your role: The Commercial Writer will support the Ecommerce team to deliver tenancy, CPC and Partnership campaigns for thesun.co.uk. You will be a creative self-starter with a good working knowledge of the branded content and content marketing landscape and a strong digital journalism background.

As a Commercial Writer within the team, you will be aware of the necessary processes required to deliver effective commercial content within a digital newsroom environment. You will report to the E-Commerce Lead Editor and work closely with the Strategic Partnerships Lead and Head of Affiliates and Partnerships, to deliver best in class digital commercial content.

You will be comfortable working on multiple projects at any one time and have excellent project management and organisational skills to deliver briefs on time and to client specifications. You will work collaboratively with editorial and commercial teams to produce high quality and engaging copy. As a results driven individual with a can-do attitude, you will be adaptable and thrive working within a dynamic and fast paced environment.


Day to day you will:

  • Be the main writer producing copy for all tenancy, CPC and Partnership campaigns for E-Commerce on thesun.co.uk.
  • Research, write and proofread all commercial content, ensuring copy is high quality and consistent with The Sun tone of voice.
  • Manage day to day publishing of commercial content, working with the wider E-Commerce team to execute campaigns to deadline.
  • Assist with reviewing and analysing campaign performance and share insights/data with relevant internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Work with internal stakeholders across the business (Product, Legal etc.)  to ensure all commercial requirements for the content you produce are met.


What we’re looking for from you:

  • Digital journalism experience, preferably in a newsroom environment
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Top copywriting and proofreading experience
  • Proven ability to deliver projects with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commercially minded
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Good knowledge of SEO
  • Working knowledge of WordPress content management system or similar
