Chief Reporter, The Insurer – Reuters UK and Europe (London)

Are you an experienced scoop-driven news journalist looking for your next opportunity? The Insurer – now part of Reuters Professional – is a market-leading specialty (re)insurance news, analysis and data service. We’re looking for a London-based Chief Reporter to join Reuters, and deliver key news to our global audience of insurance and reinsurance professionals.In this vital role, you’ll be out and about within the London market – the leading global insurance specialty hub – sourcing exclusive news and scoops through the book of contacts you will build from within the role.

You’ll set the pace for our reporting team, setting the standard for delivering exclusive content and helping guide reporters on our London news desk. You will ideally have previous experience of reporting on either insurance or other financial services sectors, but most importantly, you’ll have a hunger for news stories that you have previously demonstrated within a competitive newsroom.

About the Role 

As Chief Reporter, UK & Europe at The Insurer you will:

  • Build a network of contents that enable you to deliver exclusive news stories
  • Provide coaching and guidance to other reporters within the team to help them develop their skills
  • Attend and report on key industry events, both in London and internationally
  • This is a market-facing role – you will be expected to spend a large part of your time in the marketplace meeting your contacts
  • Be a collaborative team-player who will work well with others across the organisation

About You 

You’re a fit for the role of Chief Reporter, UK & Europe, at The Insurer if you have:

  • Demonstrable experience in a busy news environment.
  • Previous experience of covering insurance and financial services is preferred but not essential.
  • An interest in the insurance and re-insurance industry, and the desire to both learn more about how insurance affects global economies and grow your book of contacts within the industry.
  • A constant drive to uncover exclusive news ahead of our competitors.
  • Great communication and listening skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels both within and external to Thomson Reuters.
