Student representatives will be able to connect with the NCTJ team, editors and each other at the annual Student Council event in February 2024.

On Friday, 9 February, the NCTJ will welcome students representatives from across the country to the Financial Times in London. Elected by their peers, these students represent the views of those on accredited courses.

They will be able to communicate their views on journalism training to the NCTJ team and ask questions relating to assessments, qualifications, funding, support and accreditation.

They will also have the opportunity to quiz working journalists through a panel session:

  • Paddy Davitt, football editor, Newsquest
  • Jay Gardner, trainee journalist, BBC
  • Luke Jacobs,  homepages editor, The Guardian
  • Michelle Johnson, editorial director, Vantage Media
  • Mark Waldron, publishing editor, The News (Portsmouth), LondonWorld, BirminghamWorld, BristolWorld and NottinghamWorld

Please note, the event is invite-only.
