Understanding business and economics has never been more important. From inflation to recession, being able to explain how changes in the economy affect your audience is an important skill for any journalist.
It is easy to be put off by technical terminology, jargon, or the use of statistics; but stories about the economy and business are everywhere and you are probably already reporting on them on a daily basis in your work as a journalist.
This short course will guide you through some of the key concepts journalists need to understand and how best to explain them to your readers, listeners and viewers.
This course is delivered via the NCTJ’s Journalism Skills Academy. It will take around 2 hours to complete. You can start at any time and work at your own pace.
