We're delighted to partner with Google News Initiative to offer this one-day digital journalism tools seminar.

Open to journalists and journalism educators, the day will provide an introduction to advanced search and verification skills using essential tools from Google and beyond. 

Attendees will also learn how to find and clean local police data, then use it to create an interactive map suitable for embedding in crime stories. 

The seminar will also explore a variety of Google tools to help with finding stories, as well as featuring a simple data visualisation session from Flourish, which will show you how to create elegant interactives without coding.

Our annual shorthand seminar is essential for shorthand tutors, and covers key issues and developments in shorthand training and qualifications. 

This year's event will give tutors an in-depth training session on the Cirrus online assessment platform, from accessing exams as an invigilator to creating and marking mock exams. Tutors will also have an opportunity to have any questions or concerns addressed in a Q&A session.

The event will also feature sessions on shorthand resources and marketing shorthand.
