International journalism networking event

The NCTJ is pleased to invite all accredited course providers to attend a free networking event to learn about and discuss a new qualification in international journalism, which the NCTJ is developing.

The qualification, which covers all the core elements of being a practical journalist operating in an international arena, is aimed at UK universities delivering this type of programme for non-native English speakers.

This free event, which will be hosted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation at their Canary Wharf offices on Wednesday, 23 May, is open to all NCTJ-accredited centres – those who already have an established IJ course as well as those who would like to know more about the new qualification.

As well as having the opportunity to share best practice, the event will include a number of expert speakers from the international journalism and education fields.

There is limited availability, so we can accept no more than one representative from each centre.

NCTJ Shorthand Seminar

Friday, 15 June 2018

10.00am for 10.30am - 3.30pm

This one-day seminar is designed to bring shorthand tutors up-to-date with key issues and developments in shorthand training and qualifications.

As well as learning from the experts, there will be an opportunity to share ideas, seek advice, and raise any concerns about the NCTJ’s shorthand programme of study and examinations with other tutors, members of the examinations board and staff.

Click here to view our flyer.

With this year marking the 50th anniversary of Teeline shorthand, the seminar will also be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the occasion.

Delegates will hear from a range of guest speakers, including an inspirational student who has overcome physical boundaries in learning shorthand.

There will also be an informal networking session, with plenty of Teeline memorabilia to look through, and a celebratory lunch reception.
