The NCTJ offers distance learning courses, which are perfect for those unable to study at an NCTJ-accredited, centre-based course. They are designed for UK-based learners, although we have many overseas students who complete the course.
Both qualifications are level 3, however the Certificate in Foundation Journalism provides an introduction to journalism whereas the Diploma in Journalism is an entry-level qualification and equips learners with the knowledge and skills that journalists need to succeed on the job.

National exams are offered two/three times a year and you will need to complete the online application form, which will be made available on the website at least six weeks prior to the exam dates. Whilst we endeavour to locate you at your preferred centre, please note, this is not always possible and you must be prepared to travel.
