Shorthand
Shorthand is a fundamental skill for all journalists and an accurate shorthand note is vital. Candidates aim to achieve 100 wpm to improve their employment prospects and to be eligible to sit the National Certificate Examination (NCE).

The format of NCTJ shorthand exams at speeds of 90 to 120 wpm will be changing from September. The new exams will include a key quote in the second half of the four-minute exam, which students must identify and take down accurately to pass. For more information please click here.
