Exam centres
If you are an approved shorthand exam centre you are now able to download exam documentation from the Related Documents section of this page.
If you would like to become an approved centre to hold shorthand exams the following guidelines must be adhered to:
- only business or educational premises are acceptable
- you must have an adequate examination room
- the exam readers must have experience of reading NCTJ exam pieces to the specified times. A CV for each reader must be enclosed with all shorthand exam centre applications
- the invigilators must have experience of invigilating exams and be fully aware of the process and procedures of NCTJ shorthand exams
Please download and complete a Shorthand Exam Centre Application form from the Related Documents section and return to us. You will also need to to download the Shorthand conditions of examinations as this needs to be read and understood before you can apply. CV’s for all shorthand readers must be enclosed with the application.
Once your application is approved you will receive a supply of exam documentation and a centre approval number which must be quoted in all correspondence with us.
The NCTJ will carry out regular spot checks on centres and where a centre is found to be deviating, without permission, from the information given on the approval application form, or not abiding by the NCTJ’s examination conditions, approval may be withdrawn. Withdrawal of approval will apply to the reader, the invigilator and the premises.
It would greatly assist the NCTJ if centres admitted external candidates to their exam centre where possible.
