National Exams

National examination dates are offered in April and November each year. These dates are open to anyone wishing to sit an NCTJ preliminary Certificate in Journalism exam.  They are the exam dates for distance learners and those who are no longer on course and would like to re-sit an exam. Candidates can apply direct to the NCTJ by completing the application form in the related documents section.

Candidates are allocated a place to sit an exam at a centre organised by the NCTJ. 

Overseas candidates can apply to sit these exams. Please contact the NCTJ for further details.

 

When an exam application is received, the NCTJ will confirm your entry by email.

 

Two weeks prior to an exam date, reporting instructions and a timetable will be sent to you by email.

 

Results are issued by email within six weeks of the exams.  A list of candidates achieving A-C grades is published on the NCTJ website.
